Diesel: the torque monster
Modern turbo diesels are the kings of remap gains. Because they run huge torque from the factory with conservative fuelling, a Stage 1 diesel remap typically unlocks big torque increases — often 60–100 Nm — which is exactly what you feel in everyday driving. They're also the engines that most often see fuel economy improve afterwards.
Petrol: the rev-happy one
Turbo petrols gain strong horsepower and a much sharper throttle, with the biggest difference felt in the mid-range and top end. The gains are usually a bit smaller in torque terms than a diesel, but the car feels noticeably more eager to rev.
What about non-turbo engines?
Naturally aspirated engines gain very little from a remap — usually single-digit horsepower. We'll always tell you honestly if your car isn't worth mapping, rather than taking your money for a change you won't feel.
Which is right for you?
If you drive a diesel and want effortless pull and better economy, a remap is one of the best-value modifications available. If you drive a turbo petrol and want it sharper and quicker, same answer. Send us your registration and we'll tell you exactly what your engine can expect.
